Requirement
A leading hedge fund with a significant presence in India engaged Peepal for their requirement of smart freshers for the position of Associate.
Challenge
The client had already completed a round of search for freshers during their visit to most of the elite campuses in the country. They wanted Peepal to search for individuals who were smart, presentable, very good in communication, with one of the best pedigrees who could be groomed for taking independent responsibilities. Essentially, the best of the best available in the country.
Background.
The client has a significant presence in many of the world's capital markets, investing in a wide range of financial instruments across geographies. Its activities range from the deployment of investment strategies based on mathematical models and human expertise to the acquisition of existing companies and the financing or development of new ones.
Client has a state-of-the-art development, research and support center in India that works in coordination with the New York based head office to maintain the company's technological and financial leadership in the areas of securities information management, market evaluation, and order execution.
Firm hires some fresh talent from the most elite arts, commerce and sciences institutes at undergraduate level to place them in various departments. These people are mentored very closely and over time grow to take up responsibilities in different areas.
Alternatives
We had only two alternatives in hand. Either to give or take up this challenge and give them the apt candidates they were in search of.
Since campuses were already evaluated by the client, we had the option of finding people whom the firm could not speak because they were hired before the firm visited the campus.
Another alternative was to evaluate candidates from the next level of institutes. This approach would require a very extensive filtering process at our end because of the high benchmark from the client.
Action Plan.
We decided to take it up because Peepal never follows a policy of giving up.
We opted for sharing our effort on the both the alternatives available. Swinging into action we got together as a team and worked real hard to find appropriate candidates for this requirement. Through our non stop efforts and teamwork in the quest for the best and apt candidates, we were finally successful in finding some.
We spoke to nearly 300 candidates, evaluated them ourselves, conducted a final filtration and found some very good candidates that met our client’s requirements.
Results
Peepal as a team could help our client find candidates in their quest for best talent. This was only due to the team work and the pace in which the consultants in Peepal reacted that we could excel beyond the expectations.
